Notifications and messaging
In-app, push, email, WhatsApp and SMS — who gets told what, acting straight from a notification, and the delivery ledger.
DriveDesk keeps everyone informed without burying them. Notifications are targeted at the person who can act, and the channel is chosen to match how urgent the message is.
Channels
| Channel | Used for |
|---|---|
| In-app | Everything — the permanent record of what happened |
| Push (mobile) | Time-critical work: a new assignment, a manager's nudge, a serious issue |
| Push (browser) | The same, for desk staff who opt in |
| Confirmations, digests, onboarding, receipts | |
| WhatsApp and SMS | One-time codes and customer messages |
Who gets told what
- A major issue reaches owners and managers immediately. A routine note is recorded and does not interrupt anybody.
- A booking approval or rejection notifies the person who submitted it.
- A manager's nudge reaches the assigned staff member on their phone.
- Gate exceptions — an out-of-window checkout, a missing GPS session — notify managers rather than blocking the gate.
- The weekly lead-ROI digest goes to owners and managers, and is skipped when there is nothing to report.
Acting from the notification
Some notifications carry an action — approving a pending booking, for example — so a manager can clear it without opening the dashboard. The action still checks the permission before it does anything; the button being visible is not authority.
Browser notifications
The dashboard offers to enable browser notifications. Decline and it remembers rather than asking again on every page. Accept and that browser is registered as a device; signing out unregisters it, so a shared machine does not keep receiving your alerts.
Common questions
- How are one-time codes sent?
- WhatsApp and SMS are sent together, so a failure on one channel does not stall a handover at the customer's door.
- Can I turn off push on a device I no longer use?
- Only your own — you cannot unregister anybody else's device, and signing out removes the one you were using.
- Are notification action buttons secure?
- Yes. The button on a notification is a shortcut, not a permission — the action re-checks that you are allowed to take it.
